Applications are hereby invited from qualified candidates for admission into the various Bachelors Degree Programmes for 2012/2013 academic session of the Institute for Continuing Education Programme (ICEP) of Imo State University, Owerri.

A. Categories of Candidates who may apply and Entry Requirements
  1. Only candidates who took the last 2013/2014 UTME Examination and scored 180 and above and chose Imo State University as either 1st or 2nd choice University are eligible to apply. Such candidates must possess at least five credits in either SSCE, WASC, GCE, NECO, NABTEB or any other certificate recognized by the University, obtained in not more than two sittings. In addition to the general requirements, candidates are to meet up the Departmental requirements in the programme of their choice.
  2. Candidates with good A level papers, NCE or Diploma certificate may be admitted into the Direct Entry Programmes, in their areas of specialization. i. Candidates with A level papers, HND or OND certificates are admitted into the second year of the programme. ii. HND Holders with 9 points and above may be admitted into the 3rd year of the programme. Teaching practice result does not form part of the points.
B. Entry Requirements for courses offered in the Faculty of Education
  1. Edu/Accountancy: The subjects include credit passes in English Language, Maths, and Econs and two (2) others.
  2. Edu/Econs: Same as Edu/Accountancy
  3. Edu/Govt.: The subjects include credit passes in English Language, Maths, Government or history and two (2) others
  4. Edu/G&C: The subjects include credit passes in English Language, Biology, one science subject and two others.
  5. Edu/Social Studies: The subjects include credit passes in English Language and any of Government, History or Social Studies.
  6. Edu/Library Science: The subjects include (5) O level credit passes in English Language, Maths, and (3) other relevant subjects.
C. Entry Requirements for Degree Programmes in the following disciplines at Credit Level Passes:
  1. B.Sc. Accountancy, English, Maths, and Econs plus 2 others.
  2. B.Sc Banking and Finance, English, Maths, Econs, and 2 others.
  3. B.Sc Economics, English, Maths, Econs and 2 others.
  4. B.Sc Management, English, Maths, Econs and 2 others.
  5. B.Sc Marketing, English, Maths, Econs and 2 others.
  6. B.Sc. Government and Public Administration, English, Maths, Government or History and 2 others.
  7. B.Sc Mass Communication, English, Maths, English Literature and 2 others.
  8. B.A History & International Studies, English, Maths, Government or History and 2 others.
Method of Application
Applications are done online with the purchase of scratch cards at the sum of N6,500 (Six thousand five hundred naira) only at IMSU Microfinance bank on Campus. University website is –
Special Notes Candidates are to ensure that the names and the order in which they appear in the ICEP Register for sale of Application forms correspond with those of the completed online application forms. In other words, candidates’ names must appear in the same order in both the online Application form, envelope, receipts, ICEP sale of forms record book, etc., e.g. Mohammed, Uche, envelope: IMSU.ICEPAd167/1. Surname, First name, middle name. The same order has to be maintained in the certificate and other documents. Application for change of name is not encouraged after admitting a candidate with certain names. However, the University may still take note of the change of names.
Return of Completed Online Application Forms All application forms duly completed online are to be returned with one self addressed and well stamped envelope measuring 22cm x 10cm and certified photocopies (not originals) of academic and professional qualifications to: The Secretary, ICEP, Imo State University, P.M.B. 2000, Owerri, Imo State Candidates are to indicate at the bottom left corner of the envelope the course of study they are applying for in the programme. Example: B.Sc. Accountancy, (B.Sc. Govt./Pub., Admin.)
Closing Date Completed online Application forms are to be returned to the above and not later than four (4) weeks from the date of the publication. Application received after the date may not be honoured. General Advice to Candidates
  1. Candidate are advised in their own interest to study the forms or possibly the model book guide(s) carefully before completing the application forms.
  2. The ICEP programmes are organized for now only in the University Campus.
  3. Attach photocopy of the online slip and return to the Institute (1) Passport Photograph bearing at the back your name and address.
  4. Attach photocopies of all documents within your reach. Do not presume that some of the documents available to you are not relevant when they may be of an added advantage to you in the admission exercise.
  5. On no account will a candidate be offered admission without first and foremost obtaining the application scratch cards and possibly completing it online using the guiding book.
  6. Candidates who are already awaiting the result of the immediate past May/June, WAEC or GCE examinations are eligible to apply for admission.
Candidates who will sit for a May/June or GCE examinations by the time the application forms are to be processed are not eligible to apply.
